Pipe pile connections in the field
Round steel pipe piles often require site welding as lengths are added or pile caps and connection plates are fitted. Riconstruct supplies mobile SMAW welding for foundation contractors working throughout Toronto and the GTA.
Our project photos show welded circumferential pipe pile splices and pile caps with gusset reinforcement. Connection details, weld procedures and inspection requirements are determined by the project documentation.

Circumferential joints, pile caps and connection steel
Round pipe piles may need circumferential welds when sections are joined in the field, followed by pile caps or other connection components at the head of the pile. Riconstruct provides mobile welding support for these operations on foundation and shoring projects. The joint preparation, connection detail and acceptance requirements are governed by the approved project documents.
Information that helps us plan a pipe pile welding job
Send the pipe outside diameter and wall thickness, splice or cap drawings, number of connections, site location, work area photos and anticipated schedule. Indicate whether sections will be aligned and supported before welding and whether the project specifies any particular welding or inspection requirements. These details help us discuss a realistic site welding scope.
Different pile sections require different connections
Round pipe piles and structural H-piles are not interchangeable welding details. For H-shaped pile extensions see H-pile splicing; for excavation braces, walers and raker connection steel see shoring and pile welding.

Is a round pipe pile splice the same as an H-pile splice?
No. These are different steel sections and connection details; Riconstruct discusses the specific welding scope using the project drawings.
Can you weld pipe pile caps and gussets?
We provide field welding support for these connections where included in the approved project scope.
